Startup advice

Hey everyone,

I have a web startup for which I need to develop a beta version of our product. The big problem is I'm not a techie, but rather a business person with a background in strategy consulting. I have a clear vision of what the beta needs to do, but I lack the technical resources and know-how to execute on the vision. I've read horror stories of startups that failed because of bad technology hires and I want to make sure I get the right developers in place to achieve the vision. Any advice on the subject is greatly appreciated. I'm also new to the bay area, so if anyone has some time to step out for a coffee I'd enjoy meeting you.
